Marijuana
Marijuana,
"pot," or "weed," is the most commonly
used illegal drug. Many abusers try to convince others that
pot is harmless fun, but don’t be fooled. There’s plenty of
harm in marijuana, and no one is immune.
Marijuana
is psychologically addictive. As with any addictive drug,
users build "tolerance" for marijuana – the need
for more of the drug over time just to feel the original effects.
The longer someone uses, the more time and money he or she
spends on the drug, and the more damage it does.
Some
users defend marijuana, saying it’s okay because it grows
naturally. Yes, so does poison ivy, but you wouldn’t want
to smoke it. Marijuana causes increasing deterioration in
mental ability, and motivation, causes reproductive damage,
and can increase the user’s risk of long or oral cancer.
