Some
Banned Drugs and Methods
The
following is the NCAA’s list of banned-drug classes. Although
lists of prohibited substances and doping methods vary from
organization to organization, the NCAA lists many of the same
substances as the International Olympic Committee and other
amateur and professional sporting organizations. The NCAA’s
rules state specifically that some "dietary supplements"
may also be banned. Various organizations specifically ban
"doping methods" that do not involve drugs, as well.
For example, certain procedures can supply an athlete with
extra red blood cells or a higher level of oxygen in the blood,
and these methods are widely banned.
